What's New at Heart in Hand Needleart

Updated August 5, 2007

It has been a while since our last update so we have lots of new designs to show!

Brand new to better cross stitch stores everywhere are a new kit and a new Mother's Wisdom™ Wee One™!

Our newest kit is called Star Spangled Summer. Featuring the title phrase with a button in place of the first word, this kit includes the fabric and embellishment. But oh, what an embellishment! The handmade button (the same type used in our new Celebration™ series described below) has to be seen to be properly appreciated. A photograph just doesn't do it justice!

Stitchers have asked for it and they've got it! Another in our popular Mother's Wisdom™ series of designs has just been released. Listen to Your Teacher is perfect both as a reminder for your favorite student or as a great quick-to-stitch gift for a favorite teacher!

All the Mother's Wisdom™ designs as well as all of our other series can always be accessed through our Heart in Hand Designs Page!

There are lots of other recent releases as well. Our last update included the first two (Courage and Peace) of a new series of Wee Ones™ called Inspiration™. This series of quick-to-stitch designs are perfect to send a message of inspiration and support to someone you love. The four newest are now available at better cross stitch shops everywhere.

The third Inspiration™ design is called Love. The fourth features a home representing Joy.

The fifth shows a sturdy tree as the symbol of Respect while the sixth's message of Hope is represented through an array of stars.

While all of the designs in this new series can stand on their own, we are offering a free border on our Free Designs Page.

Recently, Heart in Hand sent their Automatic subscriber shops a complimentary set of the Inspiration™ designs. We asked shop owners not to sell the charts, but to use them to inspire someone. This open-ended suggestion allowed shop owners to use their imaginations. We received the following return letter from a shop owner describing the inspiration her gifts provided. Merry generously agreed to allow us to share her letter. We think you will find her letter inspiring itself. inspiring itself.

Hi Cecilia,

Thank you for the gift of Inspiration charts. I have done as you asked and gave each out as I saw the need for that particular inspiration.

Hope went to a lady in our stitch group that just found out her husband had a cancerous mass in his colon. That same man was also recovering from heart surgery and had had his kidney removed because of cancer also. Merrilyn needed to hold on to something. When I nursed my mother until she died, I realized that sometimes, hope is all we have.

Respect next went to my best friend Mary. She is the youngest of 7 sisters and is the one that keeps her sisters in touch with each others lives. A sister's husband has ALS, and was put on a ventilator, Mary's oldest sister is mentally-challenged and low functioning, Mary takes care of them and her own family. No matter what her family needs, Mary is there for them.

Peace was sent to a longtime friend. She lost her mother to cancer, and her brother had been killed. She and I go through the same depression every Mother's day and Christmas. I wish I had a magic wand to erase her pain, but I think your pattern helped.

Love went to Wendy, another friend. Her oldest sister had been battling pancreatic cancer for years, and last year her husband committed suicide on their farm. Wendy has been her rock, support and companion through these difficult times. Wendy's sister is now on the organ transplant list for a new liver. Wendy's love for her sister has been an inspiration for all of us.

Courage was sent to a good friend of mine, Belinda Karls-Nace. Belinda and I go through similar situations in that we both are the lone ranger in our business. We do it totally alone, I have no employees and neither does she. Being the capable women that we are, we must make this look easy, because we also receive little to no encouragement. Not that we are needy and must be petted and patted all the time, but a kind word occasionally would be nice, instead of a criticism or "helpful suggestion". Belinda is also helping her mother through a difficult time, in addition to teaching classes, designing and of course, running her business

Lastly, Joy. I kept Joy for me. I am tired, and spring in the midwest equals no sales in my shop. Its difficult to keep a smile on my face when I know that I am swimming in bills. I am hoping Joy will help remind what I love about stitching, and the joy a new project brings to a customer and friend.

Also, I gave a set of patterns to Mary, my friend named above. She is a parole officer for Iowa State Corrections and is going to stitch the set with the border to put in her office, so her clients (inmates) will hopefully be inspired to be better people.

Thank you Cecilia for your generosity, and also for helping me realize that there are people who need inspiration, all around us.

Sincerely,

Merry

Grand Old Flag, a new Wee One™, is a beautiful primitive design featuring our nation's symbol. Stitched with fibers from Weeks Dye Works and Gentle Art, the design incorporates a flag embellishment from our friends at Just Another Button Company.

We have also introduced two new series of Wee Ones™ that are proving to be extremely popular with stitchers. The first new series is called Bits 'n Pieces™. Do you ever need just a little design to fill a small space on your wall? Are you looking for a unique seasonal design to spark up your desk? Need a quick gift to stitch for a special friend? Our innovative Bits 'n Pieces™ series of small charts will fill all those needs! These designs will be released in coordinating groups and each group will use the same threads on both designs. Stitch one or both for a special friend. The pieces look great together or can stand alone.

The first two are Friendship Endures and Hodgepodge Hearts. Friendship Endures pictures the title phrase surrounded by a border which includes tiny buttons. Hodgepodge Hearts is a collection of hearts stitched with the same fiber colors as Friendship Endures. Be sure to watch for more of this exciting new Bits 'n Pieces™ series in the future!

Our second new series is called Celebration™ and celebrating is just what stitchers tell us they are doing in response. Stitchers are enthusiastically buying these new designs and the unbelievably beautiful buttons that are used on them. Photographs of these handmade buttons can not do justice to them. These buttons made exclusively for Heart in Hand Needleart are simply incredible!

The first in the series is Celebration: Summer. A tiny sampler sprinkled with small stitched blackbirds alongside a tall, cool slice of watermelon are shown in this design, with a larger blackbird button perched on the watermelon slice.

Celebration: Autumn, the second in this new series, features a tiny sampler sprinkled with leaves alongside autumnal motifs including a tall pumpkin. The handmade button on this design is a pumpkin with a twisted vine hanging from the stem.

In addition to the free Inspiration™ border on our Free Designs Page, there is a second free design called Spring Basket. This cute basket of flowers features Heart in Hand's Heart Charm. And don't forget that our free border for our "My Favorite Things" series is still available as well!

We hope you are having a great summer and as always thank you for stitching Heart in Hand Needleart!
